William F. Dawson
William F. Dawson passed away peacefully on November 20, 2017 after an illness. He leaves his brother Terry, daughters, Jocelyn Deneen, Jacqueline Dawson, Deborah Fuss and Kelly Atkinson, their partners Steve Deneen, Karl Halupka, Stuart Fuss and Peter Renzi and grandchildren, Graham & Lydia Deneen and Grace & Dawson Fuss. Bill was born in Christchurch, New Zealand and with his first wife Elizabeth and baby daughter Jocelyn, traveled to England by ocean liner as an officer of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. He received his masters degree in aeronautical engineering at Cranfield University, England, where Deborah and Jackie were born. He started his career as a design engineer at Pratt & Whitney in Quebec, Canada, before moving to the United States in 1960 to work for General Electric. Bill divorced and later married Mary Atkinson, becoming stepfather to Kelly. Bill, tired of the corporate life, made a career move into real estate development, where he enjoyed success. He developed both commercial and residential developments in Acton, Westwood and Boxborough, MA. From 1996-2000, he was the president of the Massachusetts Manufactured Housing Association. He was very proud of his co-ownership and management of the Meadowbrook Mobile Home Park in Leominster, MA and treasured the relationships he made there. Bill was a member of the Tennis and Racquet Club of Boston, where he played squash. He was passionate about the ocean and sunsets. He spent a summer driving every small road on the Cape looking for the perfect location. He bought a home in Eastham on Cape Cod Bay in 1986, one of the original association homes which he redesigned and rebuilt. He retired to Eastham and spent the last 20 years enjoying the beauty of Cape Cod, especially from his living room window. When wondering if there would be a sunset on a given night, he liked to quote his father, ???you g???never g???know.??? Like the fine wines he once enjoyed, Bill mellowed with age; he was charming, had a keen, dry sense of humor and loved ???woofers.??? In his last years he was cared for at home by a very special group of caregivers including Eileen, Wendy, Antoinette, Jen and Wendy G. He lived in the home he loved and he passed, fittingly, just after sunset, in the afterglow. Private services will be held at a future date. In Bill???s memory, donations can be made to Eastham Firemen???s Relief Association, 2520 State Highway, Eastham, MA 02642.
