Obituary

William W. Russell

William "Bill" Russell of Kingston passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth, surrounded by the love of his family after a brief illness. He was 76.

Born on January 3, 1950, to the late William and Josephine Russell, Bill was the oldest of six children. He proudly served four years in the United States Navy before earning a degree from Stonehill College while attending night classes and going on to enjoy a successful career as an accountant.

Bill was the beloved husband of Deb Russell for nearly 50 years and a devoted father to Kasey Coté and her husband Joe, and Andy Russell and his wife Deanna. He was also a proud grandfather to Samantha, Kristina, Rebecca, Matthew, William, Emma, and Daniel, who brought him endless joy.

Known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and positive outlook, Bill carried many responsibilities throughout his life without complaint and was always there for those who depended on him. After retiring, he delivered newspapers throughout the community, building lasting friendships with coworkers and loyal customers alike. Those relationships meant a great deal to him, and he continued his route right up until the end.

He enjoyed following Boston and New England sports teams, playing golf with family and friends, reading science fiction, watching sci-fi television, and exploring his lifelong interest in astronomy and space exploration.

Bill will be remembered for his dedication to family, unwavering sense of responsibility, and steady presence in the lives of those he loved. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Bill will be laid to rest the the National Cemetery in Bourne on Wednesday, June 10th at 9:30 am.
