Celebration of Life
Starts at 11:30 am (Eastern time)
It is with deep sorrow that the family of William F. Wallace, age 83, of Hingham, announces his passing on April 1, 2026. Bill was born on May 25, 1942, in Boston, the son of the late Walter and Marguerite Wallace of Hull.Bill grew up in Hull and attended Archbishop Williams High School, Stonehill College, and Boston University Law School. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.Bill is survived by his three children, Denise Buckley (John) of Plymouth, William F. Wallace Jr., of Plymouth, and Kelly Ianelli (David) of Hopkinton, eight grandchildren, Ashley Dell'Accio (Doug), Kaitlin Buckley, Elizabeth Buckley, Mary Kate Buckley, First Lieutenant Michael Ianelli, Hannah Ianelli, Jessica Ianelli, and Jack Ianelli. He also leaves behind his three beautiful great granddaughters, Grace, Eloise, and Annie. Bill also leaves his former wife, Donna Wallace, his nephew, Ernest Anastos, and his nieces, Janice Ryan and Sheri Anastos. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his second wife, Susan Wallace, his brother, John Wallace, and his sister, Patricia Anastos.Bill was extremely proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps and the military bond he shared with his son, Bill, Jr. (USMC) and his grandson Michael (U.S. Army).Bill was a brilliant trial lawyer with a wide breadth of knowledge. He worked as an Assistant District Attorney and a Special Assistant Attorney General and later opened his own law practice where he continued to practice law until just months before his death.Bill was also an accomplished athlete. He played baseball at Stonehill College where he pitched a no-hitter. He was an avid golfer and a member of South Shore Country Club since 1969. He played thousands of rounds of golf there but most importantly; he made lifelong friends through golf. He enjoyed the hours spent on the course and the many outings with "the boys" on and off the course. But in recent years Bill's favorite pastime was cheering on his beloved grandchildren as they competed in the pool, on the field, or on the court. He followed their lives with pride and their high school and college athletic careers with the dedication of a professional scout. Through local newspapers and later online, he kept up with games, scores, meets, and mentions over the years, often being the first to share the latest results with the family. He regularly wore clothing with their school colors with the hope that someone would ask what his connection was to the particular school at which time he would be free to detail the latest athletic and academic accomplishments of his adored grandchildren.Bill had a dry wit, a deadpan delivery, and a contagious laugh. He lived life to the fullest doing things that brought him joy and spending time with those whom he loved. He treasured holiday and birthday celebrations with his family and often remarked how lucky they were to share these moments together.Bill will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Bill's memory to PGA REACH New England. https://nepga.com/foundation/about-the-foundation/
