Obituary for Rosemary Lee Parkman (Wilbur)

Parkman, Rosemary L. (Wilbur)., of Duxbury, died at the age of 74 peacefully at Bay Path Nursing Home under the care of Cranberry Hospice on Sunday, February 22, 2015. Rosemary leaves behind her children: a daughter, Nancy of Plymouth, and sons, Eric and his wife Julie of DeKalb Jct., NY, and Gary of Plymouth. She also leaves behind a beloved granddaughter, Megan, of DeKalb Jct., NY and her sisters and brothers in-laws Laurel and Joe Nardone of Duxbury and Leslie and Steve Nunes of Carver and her brother and sister in-law Franklin and Cheryl Wilbur of Syracuse, NY. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, and many dear friends.

She was the daughter of the late Franklin and Lillian (Arthur) Wilbur of Carver. She was predeceased by her husband Albert and a granddaughter Madison . She was a graduate of Silver Lake Regional High School in 1958. She married Albert Parkman on June 3, 1961 at the First Congregational Church of Carver and they were married for 52 years. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary of Post 223 in Duxbury for over 50 years..

Rosemary was a loving person who took excellent care of people as a home health aide. She worked for the South Shore VNA for over 20 years. In 1994 she received the Hilda LaRocca Award from the Massachusetts Council for Home Care Aide Services, Inc. in recognition of her compassionate care and attention to her clients. The awards committee noted that Rosemary's clients always appreciated her dedicated attention and friendly positive manner.

Despite many challenges in her life, Rosemary always focused on the positive. She was a true friend and confidant to many and was a devoted friend of Lois W. Her talents included an incredible eye for bargains at yard sales, her ability to make from scratch cranberry sauce and juice as well as root beer and many other culinary treats. She loved nature and taking long walks with her dog and found great peace in it.


The family wishes to thank to the nurses, aides, and staff at the Duxbury House. Her time at the Duxbury House was filled with support from family and friends who made sure that Rosemary was content.


A Celebration of Rosemary’s Life will be held on Monday, March 9 at the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth, MA 02360. Friends are invited to call on Rosemary’s family from 11 - 12:30 pm followed by a joyful tribute to this most wonderful lady who touched the hearts of so many.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice in Rosemary's name.
