Obituary for Clayton James Chandler

CHANDLER, Clayton James passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 3, 2015 at Kindred Care in Aurora, Colorado. Clayton was born on February 25, 1954 in Chelsea, Massachusetts to Audrey M. Donovan and David L. Chandler. His family lived in Florida and Boston, eventually settling in Rockland, Massachusetts. He was a member of the Rockland High School class of 1971. He attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst studying psychology. It was a running family joke that he attended UMASS for five years, but was just a few credits short of a degree. In 1994 he was humbled to be lucky enough to receive a liver from a donor who remained anonymous. This wonderful gift brought him many years of good health and life. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Boston and ADT Security in Denver where he moved to several years ago and remained until his passing. He considered himself a New Englander at heart but Denver was indeed his second home. He was an avid reader, movie watcher, had an incredible memory and was a kind, wonderful friend to many. He enjoyed travelling and in his lifetime was lucky to visit London, Alaska, Las Vegas and other places. He was a huge New England Patriots fan and was beyond thrilled with their recent Superbowl victory. Throughout his illness he was never one to complain and took each day as it came. The world was a better place for him being in it. He was a true human being. He will be forever loved and missed by his mother, Audrey M. Mahoney, his younger siblings David M. Chandler, Diane M. Maguire, John J. Mahoney III and William A. Mahoney. His niece, Deirdra M. Mahoney, and nephews Ian D. and Brendan B. Maguire held a special place in his heart. He also enjoyed the company of his brother-in-law, David F. Maguire and sister-in-law Melissa R. Mahoney. He was the nephew of Diane M. Cook. He had many friends in Boston, Rockland and Denver. He was predeceased by his father, David L. Chandler, his stepfather, John J. Mahoney, Jr., his former wife, Joy L. Chandler, and his beloved dog, Molly. Cremation took place in Aurora, Colorado. An interment service will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 am at Vine Hills Cemetery, 102 Samoset Street, Plymouth, MA. Local arrangements are with the help of Bartlett Funeral Home in Plymouth, MA.
