Obituary for Frates Mark Thomas Sr.

Frates, Attorney Thomas M., of Plymouth, passed away on April 18, 2015. Born in Philadelphia, PA, his family made their home in Norwood, MA.
Attorney Frates was a member of the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. He was graduated from the College of the Holy Cross with a double degree in Bachelor of Arts and Business Administration. At Suffolk University he received a LL.B degree. At Boston University he was awarded a Masters of Law degree in Banking Law (LL.M). He was an expert in commercial law, creditor’s rights, fiduciaries and instrumental law. He was an examiner for the Treasury Department. He retained offices in Middleboro, Plymouth, Westport and Bourne. He was elected Town Moderator of Middleboro and of Plymouth. Attorney Frates was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal and the Russian Commemorative Medal for Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII).
He leaves behind his wife, B. Joan (Devlin) Frates (of Plymouth), his daughter, Dr Elizabeth Anne Huffman and her husband, Michael, of Plymouth, his sons, Thomas M. Frates, Jr, M.D., of Lexington and Robert J. Frates of Plymouth as well as his three grandsons; Michael, David and Thomas. He also leaves behind his two brothers, John, of Beverly and William, M.D., of Hingham.
Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 27th, from 5:00-8:00 pm. A funeral mass will be at St. Bonaventure’s, 803 State Road, Plymouth on April 28th at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at MA National Cemetery
