The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Donald Connors can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Memories

Gretchen and I extend our deepest symphany to Don's family and friends at his recent loss. We were aware that Peggy had died earlier, so we are doubly sadden by their passing. We last saw them on a beach in Rhode Island with the Niblacks and Dougals, probably in the late 60s, after all of us had transitioned to civilian life after serving in the Army together in Friedberg, Germany. As the Support Platoon leader, I reportrd to Don, who was the S-4 for the 32nd Armored Battalion, for about a year. We worked and played together and, yes, there are many notable stories that were generated in our time together. Don was a man I respected as a leader and enjoyed as a person, and I'm glad to read that he has led a very positive and proactive life since then. His sense of humor and hearty laugh will always be remembered by anyone who has shared his company.

May both Don and Peggy rest in peace. They certainly will be missed by their family, friends, community, and causes and by a number of us out there who knew them long ago.
