Gretchen and I extend our deepest symphany to Don's family and friends at his recent loss. We were aware that Peggy had died earlier, so we are doubly sadden by their passing. We last saw them on a beach in Rhode Island with the Niblacks and Dougals, probably in the late 60s, after all of us had transitioned to civilian life after serving in the Army together in Friedberg, Germany. As the Support Platoon leader, I reportrd to Don, who was the S-4 for the 32nd Armored Battalion, for about a year. We worked and played together and, yes, there are many notable stories that were generated in our time together. Don was a man I respected as a leader and enjoyed as a person, and I'm glad to read that he has led a very positive and proactive life since then. His sense of humor and hearty laugh will always be remembered by anyone who has shared his company.
May both Don and Peggy rest in peace. They certainly will be missed by their family, friends, community, and causes and by a number of us out there who knew them long ago.
