My dad loved Christmas! He always made it special for us kids. He spent hours decorating the outside of our house on Larch Street; lights, greens, and those red musical bells. My dad loved playing Santa too. He would ridie on the firetruck and pass out candy and small toys.
I think he had more fun picking out and playing with our toys than we did. Every Christmas Eve our grandparents and great grandparents would come to the house for a party filled with friends, family, and tons of great food and laughter. We kids would be put to bed in wait for Santa, but at the stroke of midnight our parents would wake us up to open our gifts so our grands could see our delight. As we got older, we would visit family and friends.
This Christmas won't be the same knowing he isn't in this world. I'm so greatful to have my childhood Christmas memories that are so sweet and wonderful.
