Obituary for Marjorie Elizabeth Ready (Byrne)

92 years young, of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2016 at All American Assisted Living, Raynham, where she had resided for the past year.



Marjorie was born in Milton, MA and was raised in Quincy. Following high school graduation, she joined the US Coast Guard, where she served as a Seaman First Classman and Yeoman Third Classman from 1944 to 1946. She worked for the Patriot Ledger after returning from the service.

She met her husband, Charles and they married in 1952. They eventually settled in Weymouth to raise their 4 children. Marjorie remained in Weymouth until moving to Raynham in 2015.



Marjorie was a homemaker, talented seamstress, upholsterer and baker. She was an avid reader and always enjoyed learning as much as she could about the theater and movie stars. Marjorie volunteered with special needs children and the elderly. She was also a devote Catholic.



Beloved wife for 18 years of the late Charles E Ready, who passed away on September 4, 1971.



Devoted mother of Mary S Brannelly and her husband James of Maynard, David C Ready and his wife, Kathy of Westwood, Leslie A Delaney and her partner, Mark Scarbeau of Plymouth and Christopher G Ready of Weymouth. Loving grandmother of Patrick Costello and his wife, Katie, Timothy Brannelly, Stephen and Eric Delaney and Nicole Ready.



Marjorie was the sister of Robert Byrne of Arizona, as well as the late Catherine Flaherty, Barbara Byrne and James Byrne. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.



A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 11th at 10 AM at Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
