Nangiri Ben-Avari (Nancy Morse Staron), age 81, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on July 4th, 2016. She was the daughter of Harris and Ruth Morse. Nangiri lived in Plymouth, Ma. until she married David S. Staron and moved to Dartmouth, Ma. She also lived in Wareham, Ma. and Florida, and then after David’s passing in 1996 joined her daughter and grandchildren in Sedona, Az. and Boone, N.C., until finally coming home to the Plymouth area where she spent her last days at her sister Linda’s home.


Nangiri had a quiet kind lovely presence that touched the lives of many people. She will always be remembered for her tea parties, decorating, art, and antiques. Nangiri loved to forage outdoors for things to cook and decorate with. Her beach plum liquor is one of everyone's favorites.


Her interest in spirituality eventually led her to change her name from Nancy Staron to Nangiri Ben-Avari in 2000. The new name represented who she was on a soul level as she knew there was more to life than what we see while here on earth. Her favorite saying about the name change was, “It is not an earth name” and then she would just smile. She saw fairies as a child and did angel card readings as an adult. She inspired people with words and books. Nangiri was not afraid of death and her calm presence in the face of a long illness was often remarked upon by the many wonderful caregivers that helped her from Cranberry hospice.


Nangiri is loved and cherished by her daughter Maki Ben-Avari (Paula Staron Smola) (who was blessed to have spent many years having adventures, laughing, and drinking wine with her Mom), granddaughter Sahasa Ben-Avari (Jennifer Smola), grandson Jeremy Smola, great grandson Orion Ben-Avari Wyatt, her sisters, brothers, and their spouses, Robert and Janice Morse, Linda and Dennis Valenzano, Barbara Melich, and James and Margie Bratti Morse. Nangiri also has many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her sweet presence.


The family would like to give a special thank-you to all the caregivers that helped during her long illness. A special thanks to Cranberry Hospice CNA’s and nurses, and Sherri Ascot.


Most of all, her daughter, Maki is eternally grateful to her Aunt Linda for her tireless care and love for Nangiri through 2 years of illness. Also a special thanks to her Uncle Dennis and cousin Rachel for their loving support and Aunt Barbara, Aunt Margie, and Lorraine for all their love and help.
