This poem is dedicated to my good friend and spiritual mentor, Reverend Edd. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and love with us all!!! The Revv Being raised in a poor family He went through some hard knocks. That scrawny little kid Eventually learned how to box. Even though he was so skinny And weighed around 80 pounds damp. In the ring he was huge, Boxing like a real champ. Throughout his boxing career He became quite the contender. On the outside he appeared quite tough, But inside, his heart was always tender. He had a real love for America, Proud to be in the land of the free. Soon he joined the service And fought to keep our country free. Serving our country with pride He fought many battles and never ran. In time his service was done And he retired an honored veteran. Although his service ended His battles were far from done. He then was in a battle for his kids, A long fight for custody that he won. He loved being a father And tried to be the best Dad. He didn't want his children To go through the troubles he had. Then he soon discovered A spiritual calling for his life. A way to make a positive use Of all his trouble and strife. To a life of spiritual service For his LORD, he was recruited. He was trained in the truth of the Bible And became known as Reverend Edd. The LORD was the love of his life, As evident when he ministered to you. But then he discovered another love When he met a girl called Peggy Sue. He liked telling many stories, And each time more details would develop. Once he started talking You couldn't get him to shut up. He had a strange sense of humor And liked making people smile. He shared countless posts on Facebook Like it was going out of style. Reverend Edd was truly great, So loving, genuine and real. His heart was softened because Of his wounds he allowed the LORD to heal. Although he went through many battles And victories came with a great cost, He had always fought the good fight And his faith was never lost!!!
