Obituary for Marcia M Govoni (Young)

Govoni, Marcia M. (Young), affectionately known as GramGram, age 78 years, of Hooksett, NH, originally from Plymouth, died April 22, 2017 at Hanover Hills in Manchester, NH. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Govoni.
Born in Plymouth on May 31, 1938, she was educated in Plymouth and Stoughton schools and worked at the old Plymouth Five Cents Savings and Tech Etch of Plymouth. Marcia lived most of her life in Plymouth before moving to Hooksett, NH to live with her daughter, Elizabeth, and her family. Following the death of her husband in 2001, Marcia took great pride in helping to raise her grandchildren. And when they were in school she became a foster grandparent, working first at Headstart in Plymouth and then at Underhill Elementary in Hooksett, NH. She loved all “her” kids she worked with and would gush with pride over amazing stories she would share with family and friends. Marcia was an AVID Red Sox fan and would look forward to her constant text messaging with her best friend of 70 years, Mary Grace, during each and every game.
Marcia is survived by her two daughters, Carol Strickland and her husband George, of Plymouth and Elizabeth (Betty) Morse and her husband Dwayne of Hooksett, NH. She also leaves behind her three grandchildren; Zachary Strickland, Amanda Strickland and Thomas Morse as well as three nephews, Clayton Clements of Plymouth, Marvin Clements of RI and Charles Young of TX. She was the sister of the late Pearl Clements and Charles Young.
Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 26th from 4-7 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 27th at 11:00 am. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Marcia’s memory to the American Cancer Society at www.donate3.cancer.org
