I guess the first time Mark and I shared our troubles was when we attended St. Michaels grammar school in Northampton MA. Our first day in 1st grade resulted in the nun standing us in opposite corners of the classroom for talking. That didn't stop us though. We continued to talk from corner to corner. Rulers on the knuckles, as I recall.
When we were about 12 yrs old, Marks Sister and two of our other cousins were at Mark"s residence for a sleep over. We were not allowed to have any treats/junk food or anything that tasted good to a 12 year old. Up to the bedroom we all went, called for a pizza (don't remember who called or how we paid - must have gathered all our change together and pooled the money) and told them to deliver outside the window in the driveway. We were on the second floor, so we ended up getting the pizza to the second floor by means of a rope.
We had such fun times together and reunited in the past 3 years to share those memories and become closer than ever - brothers. I think of what a fine individual Mark was with his loving wife and children/grand children. He will be on my mind and in my heart. So long "Farmer" (my nickname to him when he was 16).
