Obituary for Elda Duncan (Perkins)

Elda J. Duncan 1924 - 2012 DUXBURY - Elda J. Duncan, 88, passed peacefully into the arms of waiting angels on July 16th, 2012. Elda was born on September 26, 1924 to Harold and Annie Perkins of Ontario Canada. On an outing to the US, she met and later married James M. Duncan, and together they raised two sons and lived in East Longmeadow for more than 60 years. Elda was a member of the First Congregational Church of East Longmeadow, the Senior Center and the East Longmeadow Morning Glory Walkers and also volunteered for the Disabled American Vet's. Elda was a loving, proud and enthusiastic grandmother, who never missed an opportunity to be with her grandsons, traveling to games and even to Mexico and Cape Cod to dance at their weddings. Elda welcomed her first great grandchild in April 2011. Elda was pre-deceased by her husband, James in 1990 and sadly by her son, Gary James in 2011. She leaves Gary's wife and devoted daughter-in-law, Corinne Duncan of Cape Cod, her son, Bruce and his wife Marlene of Springfield. She also leaves grandsons Jeffrey A. Duncan and his wife, Lisa of Cape Cod, Gary M. and his wife, Kristy of California, Daniel J. of Springfield and great grandson Arlo J. of California. Elda also leaves Marlene's daughter, Mary Ann Bishop and her children Kaley and Anthony, and many nieces' nephews and friends who were very caring during her illness. At Elda's request there are no calling hours, burial at Hillcrest Park cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.
