Obituary for Theodore Karelas

Theodore Karelas, of Waltham MA, died September 27, surrounded by family in Framingham. . Born in Woburn, Ma to Arthur and Christina Karelas.

Beloved husband of Alice Aspacia Karelas. Devoted father of Arthur Constantine Karelas and his wife Doreen of Newton, James Karelas of Winchester and Diana Karampour of Framingham. Loving brother to Marie Cusano of Waltham, Bella and Carmen Bruno of Revere, the late George Karelas of Melrose and the late Ernie Karelas of Woburn. Grandfather of Alex Karampour, James,Stacy and Jessica Karelas. He is survived by many nephews and nieces.

He was an outstanding athlete at Woburn High School achieving all-state status in basketball and football. At seventeen years old he voluntered to serve his country in the Navy during WWII. He fought in the Pacific and was part of the occupation force of Japan.

He had many friends over the years that respected the man he was. Mr. Karelas was known for his ownership of race horses at Suffolk Downs in Revere, MA. He was also extremely proud of his great Greek heritage.

A private ceremony will be conducted by the immediate family.
