Condolence: Dear Susan,

I was saddened to hear of Bill’s passing. He was a good friend.

As you know, Bill and I met in about 1966 in the Army Reserve.
We were Combat Engineers stationed at the Boston Army Base.
We “slept together” in a pup tent a few Summers during our mandatory
active duty two week summer camps at Camp Drum, New York.

We shared many a mess kit meal in front of our pup tent. I never
knew anyone who could eat or speak so slow. The words were well
chosen and always on point. No wonder he became a lawyer.
Speaking of which, Bill told me of his public service legal work he
did in Plymouth, and I’m sure he helped a lot of people.

Bill and I shared the experience of having worked at Boston City Hospital.
I worked as a technician in the Biochemistry Department a year before
I entered dental school, weekends during dental school and about
six months after graduating since I was making very little money - some
things never change.

Eventually, Bill became my patient in Boston, and later in my Watertown
practice. Bill even enjoyed my stupid jokes. I really enjoyed talking with
him, and I had to tell my secretary to book extra time, otherwise our talking
would put me way behind schedule. Bill had a quiet wit which I really
enjoyed. I will truly miss him.
